Greetings! The First Church of Common Sense welcomes you! My sermon for today is on "patience." They say that patience is a virtue, but most of the time, ain't nobody got time for that! However, when you can, give it.
In our world of so many frustrations, it's easy to get caught up and then Hell fire is shooting out of your ears or wherever (hahaha). But you cannot know someone else's struggles. They may be at the end of their rope that day. Who knows. That day, it might even be you!
If someone honks at you, blow them a kiss instead of giving them the finger or yelling obscenities from the safety of your car. You'll shock them and get a laugh out of it yourself by the surprised look on their face. Let someone out into traffic even though you had to squeeze in between two irate drivers yourself to get in amidst horn blowing (see, a blown kiss would have been better and much more appreciated).
If you're making posts online, understand that it takes time to turn people around to your thinking (hehehe)...but have patience. No need to name call or get upset. Give yourself that extra minute, take a deep breath, and realize that although you might want to tell someone they are an idiot, maybe there's a bigger picture sometimes and tone it down or just don't reply.
You aren't obligated to reply to every post on Facebook, believe it or not! Common sense would tell you that if someone or something really ticked you off, you can always turn off notifications without having to defriend or send someone down the road. We don't, won't and can't always agree with each other. But thankfully, that usually yields insight into another point of view and we can all benefit from seeing another side; to either further solidify your own viewpoint or clarify where someone else is coming from.
So give a little; get a little and remember that some people don't have common sense, manners or patience, so sometimes you've got to pick up the slack. Patience....
